Illustrated Impact

After the November 2016 election, a few friends of mine from RISD put their clever heads together to start an newsletter, website, and creative movement with an aim to engage, educate and inspire. Each month they invite artists to help highlight individuals or non-profit organizations that are doing great work in support of a chosen theme. In their words, "Compassion is at the root of progress and we aim to foster that through illustration and information." Powerful! I've been excited to follow the steady growth of their online presence and am so impressed by the quality of work and thought that they have curated. Please check them out.

For Earth Day, Illustrated Impact featured my illustration in honor of A Spring of Hope, a non-profit organization that brings clean water, permaculture gardens, and eco-friendly composting toilets to rural schools in South Africa. I was able to see the direct impact of their work during a recent service trip to the region with the Simunye Project. Traveling, working, and connecting with communities in South Africa has been one of the most rewarding and humbling experiences of my life. Might be a beautiful starting point for a future children's book.
